Public consultation on the development plan for the Brussels-Capital Region 2026-2036
Topic
Elia is organizing a public consultation on the development plan for the Brussels-Capital Region 2026-2036 in line with the Electricity Ordinance, in particular with regard to its provisions on development plans (Article 12) and the obligation to submit this plan to Brugel every two years.
Context
Under Article 12 of the Electricity Ordinance, Elia, as the regional transmission system operator for electricity, is required to submit a development plan for the Brussels-Capital Region to Brugel every two years.
This development plan includes several elements. On the one hand, a detailed estimate of the current and future capacity requirements of the network in question and of decentralized generation, with an indication of the underlying assumptions. Secondly, the main infrastructures to be built or renovated over the next ten years and the corresponding planned investments. Finally, a schedule for these investment projects.
Period
Elia invites all stakeholders to submit any comments and suggestions they may have on the document submitted for consultation.
The consultation period runs from the 22st of April 2025 to the 22st of May 2025.
After the consultation period, Elia will collect all comments and feedback from the market parties. Elia will analyze these comments and incorporate them into a consultation report together with Elia's responses. In addition to the consultation report, Elia will publish the market parties' reactions (including names) on the website, unless it is explicitly stated that the contribution is to be considered confidential.
