Soil testing from September onwards

The high-voltage substation located in Tergnée (Fleurus) supplies electricity to the Charleroi industrial basin. This supply is becoming insufficient as the area develops and industries are electrified.

The Tergnée substation is already supplied at 380 kV by an overhead line that has existed since 1984. At present, this connection is only equipped with one electrical circuit (on one side of the pylons) from Saint-Amand (Fleurus). Elia plans to equip this existing connection with a second circuit in order to meet the need to reinforce the supply of the Tergnée substation.

In order to specify the work that would need to be carried out to allow the addition of conductors (cables) on this connection, Elia will be carrying out a soil testing campaign from September 2024 at the foot of the existing pylons.
These tests are not connected to our application for a permit for the project and do not in any way constitute the start of any project work. The purpose of these surveys is to complete the preparatory studies for the project.

These surveys will be carried out in agreement with the owners of the plots concerned. Each owner of the land crossed will be contacted beforehand by one of our staff members.

Residents are asked to contact the Elia team should they have any queries or comments using the freephone number: 0800 18 002 or by email at: riverains@elia.be.
