E403 between Mouscron and Aalbeke closed on the night of 4-5 July
System operator Elia is currently dismantling the high-voltage line (70 kV) between Mouscron and Zwevegem. Because of this, the E403 between the Mouscron exit and the Aalbeke slip-road complex will be closed between 21.30 p.m. and 4 a.m. on the night of 4-5 July 2024.
Dismantling high-voltage line
Elia has been dismantling the high-voltage line (70 kV) between Mouscron and Zwevegem since mid-April 2024. The line was built in 1936 and provided the region with electricity for many years. It is now outdated, which is why it is being dismantled. Elia started this work in Mouscron and is working its way towards Zwevegem in phases. The next phase is to dismantle the line above the E403, between Rollegem and Bellegem.
Diversion
Because the high-voltage line spans the E403, the motorway will temporarily be closed in both directions between the Mouscron exit and the Aalbeke slip-road complex. This will happen between 21.30 p.m. and 4.00 a.m. on the night of 4-5 July 2024. Elia has opted for a complete closure in consultation with the police and competent authorities, to ensure optimal safety while the work is being carried out.
Traffic in both directions will be diverted via the E17 and N58 (boulevard des Alliés). The necessary signs and diversions will be put in place to ensure traffic runs smoothly and safely.
The map below shows the exact route of the diversion.
