Work at high altitude in Temse and Bornem
Elia is currently replacing the mast arms of two existing high-voltage pylons in Temse and Bornem. This is taking place at a height of 130 metres. The work is part of the upgrade of the existing high-voltage line (380kV) between Kruibeke and Dilbeek and is necessary for the energy transition. The work will take about two weeks. Follow the works on the high-voltage line and pylons via the interactive map.
New mast arms for high-voltage pylons in Temse and Bornem
Elia and the contractor are carrying out work on the high-voltage pylons on the banks of the Scheldt at Temse (Schounselbroek) and Bornem. The mast arms of the existing high-voltage pylons will be replaced so that they can carry the new, heavier electricity cables. In Temse, a 130-meter crane will be used for this purpose. In Bornem the mast arms will be replaced by means of a chain that will be attached to the mast. These works will take about 2 weeks.
Reinforcing the high-voltage line between Kruibeke and Dilbeek
In April, Elia began work to upgrade the high-voltage line (380kV) between Kruibeke and Dilbeek. The high-voltage line forms a key part of the backbone of the Belgian high-voltage grid and is needed to transmit electricity through the country. It is necessary for the transmission of electricity throughout the country. The high-voltage line will be equipped with a new type of electrical cables that can transport more electricity (up to 6GW). To this end, the foundations and ironwork of 64 pylons are being reinforced and 6 pylons are being replaced. The works are necessary to realize the energy transition.
