Next step in the project
By publishing the scoping memorandum, the Flemish Government has today taken a step forward in the Lus van Henegouwen project, the 380-kV connection between Ventilus and Boucle du Hainaut in Wallonia. Elia welcomes the progress in this project for the development of a strong and reliable electricity grid.
The previous Flemish Government approved the initial memorandum for the Lus van Henegouwen Regional Land Use Plan (GRUP) on 7 July 2023. The corresponding public consultation ran from 22 August 2023 to 20 October 2023. One public info market was organised in collaboration with Elia; it took place in Avelgem and was attended by 55 people. A total of 93 consultation responses and 14 recommendations were submitted during the public consultation. The Flemish Government’s planning team combined and processed all these responses and recommendations; Elia was involved in this process as a technical partner.

Follow-up process
The scoping memorandum forms the starting point for the environmental assessment and the drafting of the Regional Land Use Plan. This will be done in consultation with the relevant municipalities and advisory bodies. This will be followed by the public consultation about the draft Regional Land Use Plan. Elia will continue to be involved as a technical partner and also continue to engage constructively to ensure the project is completed in a proper manner.
