The "Chemin des Papillons" can now be used
A number of areas identified in our permit were in need of reinstatement. In addition to this, we undertook to propose a complementary compensation plan for the pathway following the incident in February 2024. This plan was drawn up by the ecologist in consultation with the Department of Nature and Forests (DNF) and the local authorities. The aim was to create a tiered edge, use existing tree species, encourage the development of biodiversity and promote melliferous plants for the area's insects and butterflies. Planting took place in several stages, following the sowing and planting schedule to ensure optimum plant growth.
Below is the map with the location of the path.
Allowing the area to return to its natural state
Today, local residents, walkers and sports enthusiasts can once again use this path, while respecting the changes that have been made. Wooden posts have been installed all along the pathway to demarcate and protect the newly planted areas, creating a corridor for walkers and cyclists. Awareness-raising signs have also been placed at various points along the route. Wild cherry, Rowan, Hawthorn, Wild apple, Gooseberry, Broom, Elderberry, Hazelnut and others, including seedlings, will grow along the pathway.
