Seraing Worksite Progress Report

Please see the works progress report below:

  • Rue des Nations-Unies: now finished!

We have completed the works on rue des Nations-Unies, enabling pupils to make the best possible start into the new school year. The roadway has been upgraded and opened to traffic (including buses) in both directions. The parking spaces have also been upgraded, as have the pavements on both sides of the road.

  • Drève des Airelles and Drève des Bucherons: completed - Avenue de l'Europe: nearing completion

We have now successfully completed the first part of this section in Bois de la Vecquée. Specifically, Drève des Airelles and Drève des Bucherons. This section restored to its original condition and these roadways are once again accessible to the public.

Work on the Avenue de l'Europe section is currently being completedThis section will also include repairs to the pipe in rue Marconi, which will take place after the cable has been laid in the next section (see the brochure).

  • Chemin des Papillons, behind Rue Poignée d'Or and Avenue des Marteleurs: under way

The cable reels have been delivered and the cables are now being laid in the trench in Chemin des Papillons. In order to keep congestion to a minimum, the empty cable reels have been collected using the same procedure and following the same route used when they were brought in. These deliveries and collections must be carried out at night, as they require the use of special means of transportation.

The cable between junctions J3 and J2 was pulled at the beginning of September, so the trench can now be closed over and work can begin on repairing the roadway. Planting to replace greenery in the area will begin in October. Additionally, in mid-September, teams will be repairing the pipe in rue Marconi.

Most of Chemin des Papillons will therefore be open again by early October, with the exception of the area around Junction J3, which will need to remain closed until the end of October. Our teams will be working in this area on the cable junction.

  • Rue de Villencourt and prairies des Macrales: under way

The first part of this section has been completed. This is the section between Chaussée d’Ivoz and rue de Villencourt where the street forms a Y.
The trenching work for cable laying between the bend in rue de Villencourt and rue du Grand Sart began in early September.

A temporary bridge will also be put in place in rue de Villencourt to allow vehicles to cross over the stream in complete safety.

In mid-September, work platforms will be installed in prairies des Macrales to temporarily level this sloping part of the route. These platforms will be used to install the machinery needed for the directional drilling, which will lead to Bois de la Vecquée at the back of avenue des Marteleurs.

When the directional drilling is carried out, in order to minimise movement between rue de Villencourt and the end of rue des Marteleurs, a work area will be set up in the car park of the Seraing swimming pool, inside the current worksite area. Materials will be transported between this area and the end of rue des Marteleurs approximately once an hour.

Residents of the areas affected will receive further information.

  • Between rue de Villencourt and Luminus power station: ongoing

This part of the works is currently underway. The N90 will be repaired and reopened to traffic in mid-September.
