Work on the N60 for the laying of a new underground power line
To ensure worksite, motorist and road user safety, the roadway will be narrowed and a speed limit of 70 km/h will apply.
This work will take place from 21/10 to 31/10/2024 inclusive, barring any unforeseen circumstances (unforeseen events or weather conditions).
Following the permit application that we submitted in July 2022, the Walloon regional authorities and the federal authorities have granted all necessary authorisations for this project (Planning Permission, Road Permission and Declaration of Public Utility).
The municipality of Frasnes-lez-Anvaing has also issued a police order enabling work to start on the aforementioned roadways.
This work is being carried out as part of the Ruien–Chièvres project, which involves laying a new underground line between the Ruien and Chièvres high-voltage substations and will help to boost security of supply in your region.
Minimising disruption
We are working with the contractor to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum. The work will be carried out during the day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Local residents will continue to have access to their homes and businesses. In the rare cases where this is not possible, you will be notified in advance in writing.
You will continue to have electricity during the work, and agricultural land will remain accessible for farmers throughout.
This is a priority project for the Belgian electricity network, involving the replacement of an overhead line which has reached the end of its life, but which is key to ensuring the region's security of supply and to accommodating new uses associated with the energy transition. The work currently in progress will replace this overhead line with an underground line of the same capacity over a distance of around 45 km. Once this work has been completed, the old line will be dismantled.
