Elia introduces young people to technology and energy with their own eyes
On Wednesday 23 March the pupils of the fifth and sixth year of Dworp Municipal School visited infrastructure works for the Buizingen-Oostkerk project. Elia is currently laying electricity cables in Buizingen.
On Wednesday 23 March the 5th and 6th year pupils of Dworp Municipal School came to take a look at the construction of an underground electricity cable in Buizingen. After this cable has been installed, the existing high-voltage line between Buizingen and Oostkerk will disappear. The pupils were undeterred and came to the site by bicycle.
Permit Officer Lien Devriese and Project Manager Samy Lefebvre supported the group of children from Dworp: “Children on a construction site is a challenge. We started with a safety briefing and distribution of hi-vis vests. Safety first! This was followed by a brief explanation about Elia, the energy transition and the site. After the earlier theoretical part, the visit took place. The questions kept coming in and were not all that easy to answer.”
Elia searches for technical profiles on a daily basis and therefore finds it important to inspire the technicians and engineers of the future. In doing so, Elia enlists our own employees to give them the opportunity to communicate their passion for technology.
