Dismantling of the old 70 kV connection
After 18 months of work, the installation of the new 150 kV underground connection between the Auvelais and Gembloux substations has been completed. It was successfully energised on 20 September. Now that security of supply is guaranteed, the dismantling of the old overhead line can begin in early October.

Planning permit obtained and end of the appeal period
Following the submission of its application for a planning permit to the relevant authorities on 3 July 2020, transmission system operator Elia has now obtained the permit.

Permission granted for underground connection
Planning permission has been awarded for the replacement of the 70-kV overhead power line between the Auvelais and Gembloux high-voltage substations with a 150-kV underground connection following a different route.

During the advance public information meeting held at Gembloux Town Hall on 21 November 2019, all residents were able to find out about the underground-line project and ask questions. The independent consultants CSD Engineers then worked on the environmental impact study . -
