Work to lay underground cables begins in Heirbaan and Drabstraat
Elia will begin laying underground electric cables in Heirbaan and Drabstraat on 9 August 2021. As a result, traffic rules will be temporarily modified in both streets.
Underground cables to be laid in Heirbaan and Drabstraat
Elia will lay underground electric cables in Heirbaan and Drabstraat in Mortsel. A trench will be dug in the road surface to accommodate the cables. Once the work is complete, the trench will be backfilled and the road surface restored. The work will run until Friday 17 September (inclusive), barring unforeseen circumstances. Elia will install road plates over the open trench so that homes and businesses remain accessible while the work is in progress.Traffic rules will be temporarily modified in Heirbaan and Drabstraat while the work is in progress
Traffic in Heirbaan and Drabstraat will only flow in one direction while the work is in progress. Traffic in the other direction will have to follow a diversion.
- Heirbaan will be one-way between the crossroads with Ijzerenweglei and Meidoorn. The lane on the odd side of the street will be closed. Traffic from Krijgsbaan towards Liersesteenweg will be unimpeded. However, traffic in the opposite direction will have to follow a diversion via Liersesteenweg, Statielei, Antwerpsestraat and Krijgsbaan.
- Drabstraat will be one-way from the crossroads with Meidoorn to the high-voltage substation in Drabstraat. The lane on the odd side of the street will be closed. Traffic from Krijgsbaan towards Liersesteenweg will be unimpeded. However, traffic in the opposite direction will have to follow a diversion via Liersesteenweg, Statielei, Antwerpsestraat and Krijgsbaan.
- The work will have no impact on cyclists and pedestrians, who will be able to move about normally.
