The Hastière-Pondrôme connection has just been brought back into service

On Friday 29 November, after nine months of intense work, our colleagues brought the electricity connection between the Hastière and Pondrôme substations back into service.

After a preparatory phase in 2022 and 2023, during which work was carried out on the access roads to the pylons, the project then entered the actual construction phase. From March 2024 to November 2024, during the disconnection period, various operations were carried out on the 18.8-kilometre connection:

  • Removal of existing conductors and equipment
  • Removal of old pylons
  • Removal of old foundations
  • Laying of new foundations
  • Installation of new supports (mainly in high-performance concrete)
  • Installation of new conductors
  • Connection and testing

The complete renewal of this infrastructure is a crucial stage in the modernisation of the region's electricity grid.

The remainder of the work (finishing touches, installation of lighting on certain pylons, painting, removal of access tracks and refurbishment) will be completed by the end of 2025.
