Information session in Ledeberg attracts thirty attendees

Elia, the operator of Belgium's high-voltage grid, held an information session on Wednesday, 19 June at the Buurthuis community centre in Ledeberg, where it informed some 30 local residents about the installation of the underground 36-kV high-voltage cables between Flora (Merelbeke) and Sint-Amandsberg.

Elia informed around 30 local residents about the underground 36-kV cables that it wants to install between the Flora high-voltage substation in the Eikenmolenwijk district of Merelbeke and the Sint-Amandsberg high-voltage substation on the Dendermondesteenweg. Elia hopes to start work on the project in spring 2025. All in all, the works will last one year and will be carried out in phases in order to limit disruption to local residents.

Gent-Oost

This is part of the Gent-Oost project, which involves Elia preparing the electricity grid around Ghent for the future by means of restructuring works. A number of electrical facilities are reaching their end-of-life stage and, due to the energy transition, higher electricity consumption is expected in the region. Elia wants to prepare the electricity grid around Ghent for these changes.
