COVID-19: work resuming from May 2020
From mid-May 2020, Elia will resume work on upgrading the high-voltage line around Stabroek and Zandvliet. This will require a number of roads in the area to be either completely or partially closed. An overview by area is provided below.
Please note: If the work cannot be performed on the planned dates due to poor weather, it will be carried out at a later date.
Work resumes around Stabroek and Zandvliet
A range of measures have been announced with a view to limiting the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Since energy is a critical sector, Elia will push ahead with its work in your area, in stages, while complying with the required coronavirus measures. Protecting the health and safety of all staff and of everyone in the surrounding area is our top priority here.
Noorderlaan completely closed (N180)
Noorderlaan (N180) will be completely closed at the intersection with Blauwhoefstraat on Saturday 16 May, Saturday 23 May and Sunday 31 May. Traffic from both directions can follow a diversion via the A12 (junction 16 Ekeren) and the R2 (junction 13 Kanaaldok B1/B2).
Kruisweg completely closed (N180)
Kruisweg (N180) will be completely closed at Broekmans Logistics from Monday 11 May up to and including Saturday 23 May. Traffic can follow a local diversion via Antwerpsebaan.
Lane closed on Kruisweg (N180) in one direction
Elia will be working above Kruisweg (N180) near the premises of Broekmans Logistics, meaning that from Monday 25 May up to and including Saturday 4 July one lane in the direction of Stabroek will be completely closed. In the other direction, both lanes will remain open. Traffic can follow a local diversion via Antwerpsebaan.
Lanes closed on the A12 in both directions
On Saturday 30 May, traffic on the A12 at Stabroek will be reduced to one lane in both directions. The motorway will also be closed completely for short periods between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., with the assistance of the traffic police, who will put in place the necessary diversions and provide guidance.
In addition, the slip road onto the A12 in Stabroek towards Antwerp and the exit onto the R2 (junction 13) will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday 30 May. Traffic in both directions will be diverted. Traffic heading towards Antwerp and Ghent will be diverted via Kruisweg and the Kanaaldok B1/B2 interchange on the R2 (junction 13). On that day, just one lane of the A12 will be open to traffic between Antwerp and the Netherlands.
Lanes closed on the R2 in both directions
On Saturday 24 May, traffic on the R2 at Kanaaldok will be reduced to one lane in both directions. The motorway will also be closed completely for short periods between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., with the assistance of the traffic police, who will put in place the necessary diversions and provide guidance.
In addition, on Saturday 30 May all entry and exit slip roads at the Kanaaldok B1/B2 interchange on the R2 (junction 13) will be completely closed. Through traffic will be diverted via the A12 and the Stabroek interchange (junction 13).
