Information market on Thursday 31 March
Elia will soon submit an environmental permit application for the works in the municipalities of Dendermonde, Lebbeke and Buggenhout (Baasrode). This is why local residents were invited to an information market on Thursday 31 March. At this physical information market, local residents received information about the project via roll-up banners and visualisations.
Laying of new underground electricity cables
Elia renews and upgrades the electricity grid between Baasrode and Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde. In 2023, Elia will start laying new underground electricity cables between the ‘Baasrode’ and ‘Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde’ high-voltage substations. These new 150-kV underground electricity cables will replace the existing 70-kV high-voltage line. The existing high-voltage line is at the end of its service life and is being taken out of service. These works are needed to prepare the region for the energy transition. In this way, Elia can continue to guarantee energy supply in the future. To explain this project, Elia organised an information market in Baasrode.
