Green initiative: two schools sow flower meadows
As part of the Hastière-Pondrôme infrastructure project and associated community and landscape support measures, pupils from Houyet and Hastière schools have helped to create flower meadows, contributing in this way to local biodiversity. In partnership with EcoFirst, this activity is part of an approach to increase ecological awareness and community involvement.
Supervised by their teachers and experts from EcoFirst, pupils planted native flowers on plots of land close to their schools, transforming what were once ordinary spaces into havens of biodiversity. This project not only brightens up the landscape and environment around the school, it also provides pupils with a valuable lesson on the importance of protecting nature and local ecosystems. These flower meadows will not only provide a haven for pollinators and local wildlife but will also enhance the resilience of ecosystems by improving soil quality and promoting water retention.
This initiative is the result of close collaboration between local schools, public authorities and our partner, EcoFirst. We are committed to integrating environmental concerns into the development of our infrastructure projects, demonstrating that it is possible to reconcile development with respect for nature.
From next spring, pupils at Hastière and Houyet will be able to admire the many flowers growing in their meadow and watch the pollinators that pass through or take up residence there! We are proud to see so much enthusiasm from these budding young gardeners!
