A lot of interest in information market in Ghent
We organised an info market in Ghent to update approximately 40 interested parties about the 36-kV cable to be laid between Flora (Merelbeke) and Kwatrecht/Melle.
The existing underground electricity connections between the Sint-Amandsberg and Wetteren high-voltage substations have reached the end of their service life and are being replaced. We are planning to organise information sessions about the work and local impact that each part of the project will involve. We have already organised an info market in Ghent to inform local residents about the cable to be laid between Flora (Merelbeke) and Kwatrecht/Melle.
Disruption to be minimised
The cable will run from Eikenmolenwijk via Florastraat to the train station in Merelbeke, and will then continue via Merelbekestraat and Wautersdreef towards Brusselsesteenweg (see the interactive map for a detailed overview of the route). The cable will be laid via open trenches and directional drilling to minimise disruption. The work is currently scheduled to start at the end of this year and will last one year.
