Elia, the operator of Belgium's high-voltage grid, recently laid underground cables (36 kV) between Bruges and Sijsele with a view to ensuring security of supply for the Bruges area.

First water-permeable road in Flanders runs above Elia cables
Elia has laid new 36-kV underground electricity cables in Vossenberg and Rijckeveldestraat in Damme (phase 7) as part of the Brugge-Sijsele project. Intermunicipal company Farys then handled the disconnection from the sewer system. -

Directional drilling under intersections on Maalse Steenweg
On Friday 15 May, Elia began directional drilling on Maalse Steenweg (N9) at the intersections with Assebroeklaan and Fortuinstraat. This means that traffic on Maalse Steenweg can continue to use these intersections during cable-laying work taking place in the middle lane. -
